The New Forest is a popular destination and yet many local residents have no idea how much there is to enjoy on their own doorstep. Led by New Forest Tourism Association, the ‘Enjoy Local’ programme has been put together to help you get the most out of your time and give you plenty of ideas of what to see and do with your leisure time.
There is something for everyone in the Forest including awardwinning gardens, museums and historic houses, as well as a family leisure park, activity farm, wildlife park and much more.
If you are feeling energetic, the Forest is a haven for the cyclist, horse rider and walker. The Foresty Commision organise regular guided walks so you can learn whilst you enjoy the forest. There is also a wealth of places to visit to suit every taste and age whatever the weather.
For those with a more nautical persuasion, water sports on the Forest’s coast or inland waters are renowned and sailing and windsurfing a must.
During the summer months the New Forest Tour Bus provides a hop-on hop-off scenic circular tour of the Forest. When you buy your day ticket you also receive a set of cycling and walking routes. You’ll be spoilt for choice when looking for somewhere to eat and drink. From a cosy tea shop, a traditional English pub to a sumptuous a la carte meal, you’ll find a wide range to choose from. By visiting this website, you will also find special ‘Enjoy Local’ offers and monthly competition prizes. For lots more ideas of how to best ‘Enjoy Local’ pick up a free copy of Discover New Forest from Lyndhurst or Lymington Visitor Information Centres, collect from one of New Forest District Council Local Offices or National Park Local Information Points.
