Tea rooms, gift shops, art galleries – even a cider farm! Burley, named the first Brand New Forest Village of the Year back in 2014, features everything you would expect from a traditional New Forest village.
Burley is associated with witchcraft as during the late 1950’s a ‘white’ witch called Sybil Leek lived in the village. She used to walk around with her pet jackdaw on her shoulder in a long black cloak before she moved to America. Tons of witchcraft items can now be bought in some of the gift shops and every Halloween there is a fantastic village event.
Just outside the village, explore the nearby heathland for good walking, cycling and horse riding – or take a tractor safari ride in Burley Park to see the red deer in action.
